I am looking for a way to maximize the Bloodstar spell from Spell Compendium. Any time the designated being takes damage from any source, It must make a fort save or lose a point of con. So I am looking for a away to do a little bit of damage from many different sources.

I thought Vipergout might be a very useful spell, and Many Jaws seem to have some merit. Is there another spell I am missing. Ian.

How about Twin/Repeat magic missiles? Scroching ray.

Then you can do a little damage every round with spells such as Acid Arrow, Flaming Sphere, Brightworm, Ball Lightening, ...

Melf's acid arrow?:P

That was my same idea upon hearing this. Any kind of damage over time spell would do good. Also, a good spell might be Cloud of Knives (can't remember the book... PHBII or Complete Arcane or something). Would make you a demon with Bloodstar.

So look into damage over time spells, and stack on small amounts of damage over time, and you will bleed them out.

1 word: Swarms

Because the damage you get comes from hundreds of individual sources. I don't know about your bloodstar spell, but from the description it sounds like BloodStarm + Summon Swarm = instakill for any creature with a con score and no DR.

I asked the very same question a little bit ago. The best answer I received was "Alchemist's Fire + Telekenesis spell = Omigod, the agony, the agony."

Even if you miss, the splash does 1 point of damage. You can throw up to 15 flasks per round for multiple rounds. Say goodnight!

I liked Vipergout because you get 1d4+1 medium celestial or fiendish medium vipers. Their bite does a d6 con primary and secondary, unfortunately the save is very low , but they can smite good or evil for a little extra damage. The only proviso is they do not hit very well.

I think the swarm would be considered as one attack or source but I am not sure on this one. I guess they would be making a save around, but you have my idea right -suck the con right out of them in one round.

I thought of Melfs too, but I was looking for something a little more broken...If I could find a way to beef up the snakeys attack roles-look out! I guess augmented summoning feat might help. Ian.

Multiple summoned monsters that get multiple attacks would be good too I think. Say, a d4+1 lions with pounce? The more attacks the better, although more accurate attacks are better than more damaging attacks, so as to maximize the con damage.

Polymorph yourself or ally into a hydra.

Haste the party (including any summoned monsters) so they get additional attacks.

Basically, look for ways to inflict multiple attacks against your enemies each round. Melf's is a good idea, but thats only one additional pt of con a round, as opposed to say 5 pouncing lions doing a possible 25 pts of con in a round.

Also consider the number of opponents you are facing who will be subject to the bloodstar. The more opponents you can affect with it, the better area spells and effects will be versus summond creatures and multiple attacks. If you have say 8 enemies subject to the bloodsar, then a fireball might be better than summoned monsters. But if you have only one or two enemies, then the summoned monsters might be better.

Oh, another good spell to use could be acid fog since its hard to get out of to get away from the bloodstar and does damage each round too. Also good would be freezing fog since its even harder to get out of than acid fog, although the damage is less.

Great idea for the spell though, I never thought of it like that. I might have to have my Necromancer/Archmage use it now.
