| Ravager1909-12-07, 12:15 AM | I need this to cleared up for me. In the player's handbook it says that causes a 20% miss chance. I interpreted that it only effected the target but a friend swears that it effects both the caster and target. As DM I know I can just have the spell do what I want but I'd still like to know if i'm right or not. |

I don't know where your friend is getting his idea from, but nothing at all in the language of the spell suggests such a thing. Blur Illusion (Glamer) Level: Brd 2,Sor/Wiz 2 Components: V Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Touch Target: Creature touched Duration: 1 min./level (D) Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless) Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless) The subject’s outline appears blurred, shifting and wavering. This distortion grants the subject concealment (20% miss chance). A see invisibility spell does not counteract the blur effect, but a true seeing spell does. Opponents that cannot see the subject ignore the spell’s effect (though fighting an unseen opponent carries penalties of its own). Both the Target line and the second word of the spell indicate the singular, there is just a single target possible. A slight exception would be that if you cast it on yourself, and you have a familiar, it can also benefit if it is within 5 feet due to the Share Spell ability. |

(1) The spell only grants concealment to one target, that might or might not be the caster. (2) Attacks (requiring attack rolls) on the target suffer a 20% miss chance. The target's attacks are unaffected. |

Blur provides a 20% miss chance on attacks targeting the subject of the spell. Blink confers a 50% miss chance on attacks targeting the subject of the spell, but since the subject spends half of the time in the Ethereal Plane, the subject's attacks have a 20% miss chance and the subject's spells have a 20% chance to affect the Ethereal Plane instead of the Material Plane (i.e. the subject's spells effectively have a 20% chance of failure).
