Boccob's Blessed Book: This well-made tome is always of small size, typically no more than 12 inches tall, 8 inches wide, and 1 inch thick. All such books are durable, waterproof, bound with iron overlaid with silver, and locked.
A wizard can fill the 1,000 pages of a blessed book with spells without paying the 25 gp per page material cost. This book is never found as randomly generated treasure with spells already inscribed in it.
Moderate transmutation; CL 7th; Craft Wondrous Item, secret page; Price 12,500 gp;Weight 1 lb.

Doesnt it cost 100 gold pieces in materials per page to add spells to your spell book? Does this Book just reduce the cost by 25gp? Am I Missing something???

What you are missing is the Errata (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/er/20040125a) that corrected this about two weeks after the DMG was released. It is a cut and paste error, and in no way changes the text providing the mechanics for scribing spells into your spellbooks.

I could not find any references to the Blessed Book or scribing spells in either the 3.0 DMG errata or the 3.5 DMG errata on the link you provided.

In short, did you mean that the Blessed Book doesnt change any of the costs of scribing spells at all?

Well, it would cost 25,000 gold to fill up 1,000 pages of normal spellbooks, so it saves you half of the money required (Or three-quarters of the money if you make it yourself).

hold on, if it doesn't change the cost of scribing at all, then it's just a glorified book of plenty 'o' pages. You'd be better off getting a few spells books and scribing with those! (be bloody cheaper for one!).

the price is maybe useful in the fact the book would be magical, and have 'some' defense against being damaged by spells.

*looks through the SRD magic items, then compares what's found there to what's mentioned here and the erratta for 3.5 DMG*

according to those sources, and the fact I recall the 3.0 version being free, the book doesn't cost you a copper to scribe whatsoever. it's not even erratta'd.

Unless I'm missing something somehow...

Without Blessed Book, in 3.0 - 100gp per page, two pages per spell level.

With Blessed Book, in 3.0 - two pages per spell level, but scribing is free, you only pay the cost of the book, which works out to 12.5 gp per page. That's a savings of 87.5%!

Without Blessed Book, in 3.5 - 100gp per page, one page per spell level.

With Blessed Book, in 3.5 - one page per spell level, scribing is again free.

The cost of scribing either way is half that of what it is in 3.0, because you only need one page per spell level.

There is no cost to cribe spells on your Bocob's blessed spellbook.

The error in the desciption of the book is the passage that suggests that scribing a spell in a normal spellbook costs 25 gp/page, but it doesn't really matters to the effect of the item.
