I am toying with a character concept for a Soc/Monk.

I would like him to be able to alter his body parts to help in hand 2 hand. For example turn one arm into an octopus arm to assist in grapple while the other is a crab claw for an armoured punch/grab. However, I can't see any spells I can do this with. Polymorph perhaps, but the spell description implies the whole body is changed to one type of creature.

Anyone got any ideas? The spell must come from Wiz core rules or Dragon/Dungeon (ie no licensed d20 products).

There isn't any such spell as what you're talking about, exactly, but on the other hand, nobody specifies the flavor text on these spells.

First, you might do well to examine the Psionic book. The XPH has several powers that allow you to do some things like what you're talking about.

Hammer, for example, makes your touch (or unarmed strike) deal concussive damage. If you wanted to, you could flavor that the power turns your arm into stone, or some such thing.

The Psychic warrior has a power called Grip of Iron that boosts your grapple checks, which you could claim make your arm tentacle-y and sucker-y. I dunno.

And on a slightly tangential subject, check out the "Ascetic Mage" feat from Complete Adventurer, which allows you to multiclass Monk/Sor freely, makes your monk's Wisdom AC boost use Charisma instead (which reduces the number of high stats you need), and gives you a couple other nice bonuses.

Mmmm, unfortuneatley we don't use psionics in our campigns.

I can't believe there isn't a spell out there the covers this. I would have thought it would be an important spell for a specialized mage like a Transmuter/Alterator!

Game Ops...make up a spell for me a make sure it gets published! Maybe I will give it a crack and see if people like it.

Would your wizrd/soc was a spell that alters specific body parts?
