| EvilVegan09-28-04, 01:17 AM | Ok I am planning on playing a vowed up character, just because I haven't before and I like the concept. That being said: Vow of Non-violence increases the DC of my non-damaging spells (not including non-lethal damage). If I use the non lethal substitution on a flamestrike so that it does nonlethal damage, would the DC be increased by 4? If I'm reading correctly it would be. . . if that's the case, then with Vow of Poverty and Peace and Purified spells I can just wantonly incapacitate hordes of creatures without violating my vows and be better than the usual nukers. . . Is that right? I mean I'm mostly going to be spontaneously healing my party, but a non-lethal flamestrike with a DC of 24 isn't half-bad. |

| EvilVegan09-28-04, 05:28 PM | The vow doesn't exclude flamestrike, it just says "if the spell does not deal damage (including ability damage but not nonlethal damage), bestow negative levels, or cause death." Then it gives examples, but doesn't exclude anything specific. A nonlethal flamestrike doesn't deal lethal damage . . . |

| Sacrusha09-28-04, 06:25 PM | Remember that the DC increase only applies against humanoids and monstrous humanoids. |
| EvilVegan09-28-04, 07:38 PM | Good point, but we mostly fight undead anyway, so my turning attempts will be sufficient. |
