| jnosh03-26-06, 01:06 PM | Can use my higher level bonus spell slots to prepare lower level spells at level 1? My old group always allowed it but I can't remember if it was a house rule or if it was stated in the rules. If it is stated, what page is it on? |
| Ynvaar03-26-06, 01:13 PM | Yes, you can. But only to put cantrips in a first level slot. You don't get the bonus slots for higher levels until you get at least one spell of that level (some clesses like Paladin/ranger are a bit different) |
| Seeker9503-26-06, 02:13 PM | Ynvaar is correct. I offer this as an expansion on what is meant when Ynvaar mentioned the paladin and ranger, who begin most of their spell access with a 0-spells per day entry. You cannot fill a bonus slot until the number of spells-per-day of a given spell level listed for the class is something other than "-". So, for example, if the number of spells per day listed for a given spell level is "0" you could use the bonus spell slots for that spell level. |
