If a bard gains bonus spells, do those apply to spells known & spells per day or just one? The PHB (3.0) doesn't make much sense of it and neither does the Character Gen it provides.

A bard does gain bonus spells from high charisma and they apply to spells per day, not spells know.

How do you know this? Where did you find this information? Or is it just a house rule.

PHB pg. 28:

In addition, he receives bonus spells per day if he has a high charisma score...

No spontaneous caster gains extra spell known per high ability score.

That's not what the description for Charisma bonuses and the footnote under bards says.

from the 3.5 SRD:

The bard’s selection of spells is extremely limited. A bard begins play knowing four 0-level spells of your choice. At most new bard levels, he gains one or more new spells, as indicated on Table: Bard Spells Known. (Unlike spells per day, the number of spells a bard knows is not affected by his Charisma score; the numbers on Table: Bard Spells Known are fixed.)

Unfortunate, but true...

Just realized that you were asking about 3.0, not 3.5... the 3.0 SRD clearly states that Sorcerers don't get extra spells known for having a high Cha, but that text is not in the Bard description. I've gotta tell my DM I want that back! :D
