Any cleric spell or wizard spell of the necromancy school, to be exact. One of up to 2nd level, one up to 4th lvl, one up to 6th, one up to 8th, and one up to 9th. Anyone have good suggestions on what spells to take for those? |

I also find Wall of Bones to be very nice for some control. If I could remember what book the Bone Blade spell was in that could be handy for re-equiping a character that's down on its luck. If you want to be a real pain...Disguise Undead. :D [Edit: Most were in Libris Mortis. Now you can find them in the Spell Compendium.] |

| Edymnion12-29-05, 11:05 PM | Hmmm... Pact of Return from HoH is a good one. Cleric spell, and as long as I know whats going to kill me, it can't actually kill me. That would be handy. So is Mantle of Pure Spite. |

Wracking Touch from the CV is similar to the Charnal Touch but may be cool if ya got a little rogue in ya. Awaken Undead (I know it from Savage Species) and Animate Legion (HoB) are nice as well. |

If your DM counts domain spells as cleric spells, chill of the grave is a great low level choice. Rigor Mortis (HoH) is similar to ghoul touch, but it works on anything with a wisdom score, making it quite powerful for a 2nd level spell. Ghoul Glyph makes a great trap, given that there is no save to resist the paralysis. Mind Poison is pretty nasty for a 3rd level spell, given that its DC scales with your caster level. Undead Lieutenant is both useful and very flavor appropriate for a dread necro, given that you are likely to have a slew of minions. Spirit Wall can provide you with a solid combat control option. Fleshshiver is fairly impressive, though you actually have to give some thought whether or not to take the post-nerf version. As was mentioned above, avasculate is a solid spell. The ability to halve an opponents hp with no save is pretty impressive, especially when it has a chance of stunning them as well. I'm a big fan of sword of darkness, as its a great fire and forget spell (much better than mord's sword, IMO). Since I know you're partial to eberron, the draconic prophesier feats can work quite well with the DN, particulary prophecy's shaper and prophecy's shepherd. My crazed khyber kobold Robobolo will make great use of those if I ever get a chance to play him. |
