| Suropej09-20-07, 12:53 PM | I am certain that this has been done over many times already. I'm just looking for a straight answer, don't start any wars, flame or otherwise, over this - that's just stupid to do. If someone can link me to a previous thread that had a difinitive answer please do so. Ok, so what's the deal with bonus spells due to high stats? Is it spells per day or spells known? Is it different for each caster class (i.e. wizards can already "know" all the spells in their books so they get spells/day and sorcerers get spells known because they don't have a spell book)? I know that one thread about this actually had an official WoTC post to explain, but I don't know what the thread is or where. So links please, or straight answers. I don't want to get banned for this. Thanks for any help. |

| Suropej09-20-07, 01:04 PM | Thanks InkBlot, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear. We'll see if anyone has more to add or not. |
| goawayugh09-20-07, 03:16 PM | In the Wizard section: In addition, she receives bonus spells per day if she has a high Intelligence score. It is this way with all classes. A high ability score give you bonus spell slots to cast more spells per day in. It does not give you any more spells known for any class, that table is fixed. Here's another one: Sorcerer: Unlike spells per day, the number of spells a sorcerer knows is not affected by his Charisma score |
| Xan_Kriegor09-21-07, 12:33 AM | Well, if you go outside of the PHB 1, I think you can get some classes that get both bonus spells per day and spells known. I'm pretty sure Duskblade from the PHB II (for level 0-spells only I think) is an example. |

I'm pretty sure Duskblade from the PHB II (for level 0-spells only I think) is an example. That's a one off, is determined when the character takes one level of Duskblade, and never changes afterwards. And Wizards have the exact same bonus on number of first level spells known. So it's not unique to Duskblades. There is no ongoing effect that changes with the character's ability (which is how I interpreted his question as well). |
