Quick question dears, do Boots of Springing and Striding give a total +9 bonus to Jump checks, or just +5?

The reason I ask, is because according to the skills section of the PHB, for every 10 feet above 30 your base speed is, you gain a +4 bonus to Jump checks. The Boots of Springing and Striding say that you gain a +5 bonus to Jump checks in addition to the +10 feet to speed, so I wanted to know if the stated +5, and speed +4, stack, or if the stated +5 replaces the speed +4 (in which case, I would considering Boots of Springing and Striding to be a bad deal).

Thanks y'all hons. :u:

I would say the speed bonus is in addition to the +5 bonus, simply because not every race, class, etc is going to have a base speed of 30'. A dwarf, for example, has a base speed of 20'. He puts on the boots, he now has 30' - no bonus.

Thanks y'all hons. :u:

They are different kinds of bonuses, and therefore stack. So yes, a human or elf wearing Boots of Springing and Striding, gains an overall effective +9 bonus to Jump checks. A halfling or gnome wearing Boots of Springing and Striding gains an overall effective +11 bonus to Jump checks (the difference in numbers is because every 10 feet below 30 causes a -6 penalty, while every 10 feet above causes a +4 bonus).
