| Balsinor02-01-04, 08:23 PM | I am trying to make a magical item and I am not sure of the rules or if it is possible. I am trying to construct a "bow of true strike" If you can shed any light on this matter, please reply. Thank you. Bal. |
| da chicken02-01-04, 08:30 PM | See Bow of True Arrows, p76 of Sword & Fist. |
| ksbsnowowl02-01-04, 09:48 PM | IIRC, it can also be found in Masters of the Wild. |
| BlaineTog02-01-04, 09:54 PM | Mine: The Bow of TrueShot This bow appears to be an ordinary masterwork composite longbow [note: insert any masterwork bow you like]. However, it has a greater power. The bow can cast the spell truestrike with a command word from its owner. However, the spell only pertains to the next arrow shot fro mthe bow, but no later than the round following the round when the command word was spoken. Light Transumtion, CL 3, Craft Wondrous Items, truestrike; 2,200 gp. Now, whether or not that's broken or not is another matter, one which I cannot answer (but I;m sure others will). |
| RLWilde02-01-04, 10:15 PM | IIRC, that's almost the same as the Bow from Master of the Wilds... you use Command Word activation where MotW uses Spell Trigger. I wouldn't call it overpowered (since Command Word still takes a standard action), but you may want to up the price a little bit. |

I wouldn't call it overpowered (since Command Word still takes a standard action), but you may want to up the price a little bit. That price is *technically* correct (using the guidlines). Then again, an amulet of CLW on command is only 9,000 gp (1d8+5), and an amulet of Cure Minor Wounds on command is 900 gp. |
| Ertai Planeswalker02-02-04, 02:47 AM | about BlaineTog's bow: IIRC, it costs 4500 Gp in S&F, and why does yours radiate transmutation when True Strike is a divination spell? |
| Heron_Marked_Blade02-02-04, 06:33 AM | Part of the reason the Bow of True Arrows is priced the way it is is because it's a Spell Completion item. I.e. it's limited to Sorcerers and Wizards who have true strike on their spell list. The bow's power/usefulness becomes exponentially more useful when it's a Command Word activation, because that means anyone can use it. I suggest keeping it as a spell trigger item. Otherwise you have a weapon that grants you a +20 attack every other round. Think about that power when pricing it, instead of using the "it's only a 1st-level spell" rationale. |

It's not a +20 to hit all the time. Reason why can be found here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?threadid=161526) . As long as it takes a standard action (which means a single +20 attack every other round), it is a balanced item. |

That's why they're "guidelines"... so the DM can modify the prices if appropriate. ;) |
