Bracers of Combat:

These bracers, when worn, grant a +4 bonus to all unarmed attacks, and a +2 bonus to all claw and bite attacks.

What do you think?

1) what kind of bonus? (currently unnamed. that's gonna be expensive).

2) what is the bonus to? attack roll, or damage?

the bonus is to the attack roll.

As for type of bonus. not familiar with all of the types of bonuses

well, there's insight, competence, and enhancement, which would normally be things i would consider for this. most likely enhancement, since that seems to be most frequently used for this type of enchantment.

there's also circumstance, profane, sacred, luck, and probably a few others i missed that wouldn't really make sense for this item.

so, i would say enhancement is your best bet.

the bad news is this.... it's probably gonna come out rather expensive. not sure how expensive though... there are people better at that than i, i'll let them figure it out, because i'm not sure how to attack this problem, being only a bonus to hit...

Not too bad. Assuming Enhancement bonus to attack rolls... It's:

Bonus Squared x 1000 GP... so

+4 Unarmed = 16000gp
+2 Natural Weapons = 4000gp.

Similar abilities, so no extra cost...

So we've got:

Bracers of Striking:
These hardend leather bracers, decorated with buckles and studs, add a +4 enhancement bonus to unarmed attack rolls made with them. Additionally, they add a +2 enhancement bonus to attack rolls made by natural weapons.

Moderate Transumtation, CL 12th. Craft Wonderous Item. 20,000GP; Weight: 1lbs

Give or take... someone may want to go back and doublecheck my math on this one....

sounds pretty good to me.

but personally, I would keep the name "Bracers of Combat".

I've always been a fan of Mortal Kombat. I thought of this item the other day when I was watching the Mortal Kombat movie. They were fighting more than using their powers; plus i've always been a fan of Martial arts

A couple of things.

Firstly, and most problematically, attacks with claws, bites and other natural weapons are unarmed attacks. The SRD says so here."Armed" Unarmed Attacks

Sometimes a character’s or creature’s unarmed attack counts as an armed attack. A monk, a character with the Improved Unarmed Strike feat, a spellcaster delivering a touch attack spell, and a creature with natural physical weapons all count as being armed. You have three basic options at the moment, assuming you are going with the enhancement bonus :-Leave as written, in which case the second power will do nothing, and you might as well dump it.
Change the second bonus to another type, such as luck or insight. There is no listed price adjustment for non-enhancement bonuses to attack rolls, but since non-armour / non-shield AC bonuses are double the cost of armour or shield bonuses that seems a reasonable factor.
Modify the wording so that claw and bite attacks get +6 bonuses. It is arguable that this would make the bracers an epic item; unconditional enhancement bonuses to attack of over +5 are epic territory by the rules. That would stick a zero on the cost.Secondly, bonuses to attacks cost twice the equivalent bonuses to defence. Since you are getting bonuses to attack but not damage, it can be argued that getting half the effect justifies paying half the cost though.

Assuming you take the second option as being closest to the effect you want, we have :-

+4 enhancement bonus to hit for all unarmed attacks : 4^2 * 1,000 = 16,000 (halved due to applying only to attack rolls)
+2 luck bonus to hit for claw and bite attacks : 2^2 * 2,000gp * 1.5 (multiple abilities on a body-slot item) = 12,000gp (again halved due to applying only to attack rolls)

No uncustomary space limitation.

Total : 32,000gp
