| Alqamar Alaswad03-26-06, 09:45 AM | I suppose this has been asked several times, but our group is suffering from heavy debates about the Brambles (from Complete Divine) spell. I'm sorry for asking, but I play D&D from time to time, and now I have been tossed into the Dungeon Master's chair, so... please help me. "For the duration of the spell, the weapon [...] gains a +1 enhacement bonus on its attacks and deals an additional +1 point of damage per caster level (maximum +10)" The way I read this sentence, it means that a if a 10lvl druid casts Brambles on his staff, the staff becomes a +1 staff that deals an additional 10 hit points, not a +10 staff that deals an additional 10 hit points. Is this right? My reading seems to be supported by the Spikes spell: "As Brambles, except that the affected weapon gains a +2 enhacement bonus on its attacks and its threat range is doubled" So, what does the Foum think? |
| Nicholas the Paladin03-26-06, 11:36 AM | you are correct. of course, a low level spell that gives a +10 bonus to attack...would be absurd |
| Kamikaze Chicken03-27-06, 10:37 AM | doesn't it also modify the weapon to do piercing damage aswell? KAMIKAZE! :chicken: |
| darth_borehd03-27-06, 07:03 PM | The illustration for the spell doesn't match the description either. |
