| Cowjuicer03-26-08, 02:17 PM | Hello. I am a DM with roughly 4 months of playing (total) under his belt, all as a DM. While perusing these forums, I have learned that many people believe it necessary to ban spells--Polymorph, for example. Can someone please give me a list of Core spells that, by general consensus, should be banned? Thank you very much; I wanted to address this problem before the PCs get to too high a level. |

Be aware that there has been errata to some of the core spells so make sure you either got a copy of the PHB with the errata in it or at least print up the errata so you know which spells got tweaked (Divine Power, Divine Favor, Polymorph line of spells, etc.). Problematic spells are: Alter Self/Polymorph/Shapechange: Reason: These spells are extremely versatile and the benefits received varies greatly depending on HD and what types of creatures the spellcaster happens to be aware of that he/she can change into. Gate: Another versatile spell that is so open ended, it can be easy for a player to crack. |
