| Thaman Starlight11-29-03, 09:39 AM | In a 3.5 campaign I was thinking about making a specilized magical item for my ranger, and having him craft and enchant it when he gets a little higher in levels (and when I boost his wisdom to the point where he can actually cast spells). I was wondering if anyone could suggest abilities to add to this item, or that I could upgrade onto it at later levels. I've got the basics of it, but right not the brooch is only going to be useful in a few circumstances. Brooch of the Fey This brooch is made of mithral and covered with expertly carved designs. The largest, most noticeable feature of this item is the large silvery tree in the center of the brooch, surrounded by tiny sylvan runes that describe its abilities. All natural animals that come within 30 feet of the brooch have their attitude shifted one step toward helpful. The wearer of the brooch leaves no tracks or scent, and can speak with all animals at will. Also, the wearer is granted magical insights on the arts of tracking and living in the wilderness, gaining a +5 bonus on all survival checks. Strong Varied; CL 6th; Craft Wondrous Item, maker must have 5 ranks in the Survival skill. Calm animals, pass without trace, speak with animals. Market Price: 33,000 gp; Cost to Create: 16,500 gp + 660xp; Weight 1lb. So, any ideas? Remember, any abilities need to be within the limits of the spells that a 3.5 ranger has. Thanks in advance. |
