I'd suggest you definitely try and get Owl's Insight from Spell Compendium.

Hmm....Between Miracle and Anyspell/Greater Anyspell, you have a broad selection of buffing spells.

More specifically, ALL of them.

Owl's Insight is a *WTF* moment. They nerfed spells for the Spell Compendium in many cases, Owl's Insight went (at 20th level) from a +10 enhancement bonus to Wisdom....to a +10 *Insight* bonus to Wisdom??!!

Basically, you have the broadest spell list in existence, good luck.
The CharOp boards have lists of spells, but you've got work ahead of you.

Owl's insight wont do an archivist much good, given that they're save DCs are int based and the spell wont last long enough to yield bonus spells.

Darn. My mistake. Perhaps persistent, it's still useful for bonus spells, though.

Is it persistable? For some reason I thought it had a range of touch.

edit: yup, touch. That means no persistant spell.

Grr....that's not the kind of thing I forget, you got me good on that one.we all make mistakes from time to time. And the dual casting stat dependency is hardly a common occurance, so its understandable that it would slip through the cracks. :)

Well, +5 to will save that stacks with practically anything still isn't anything to sneeze at. Especially when cast on your meatshield of choice.

Well, not quite. There aren't that many ninth level arcane-only buffs, but they are off-limits.

how is an archivist going to use anyspell when they dont have a domain slot in which to place the duplicated arcane spell? its not as if you cast anyspell to duplicate whatever spell you want. You cast it inorder to prepare any viable arcane spell in your domain slot. without a domain slot, thats going to be hard.

actually getting a domain spell for an archavist would be fairly easy, considering that they can learn any divine spell of a scroll, just hit a cleric with theat domain up for a scroll of the spell, buy it and then scribe it.

in fact you have the scribe scroll feat, so just buy the casting of the spell anyspell of an NPC and create the scroll yourself, then scribe the spell into your prayer book, you can then cast it. ^_^

He means Anyspell (Spell Compendium version) specifically says it goes into your "domain slot", so it may not work for an archivist.
Miracle still does 7th and below as a standard action at no cost, for no good reason....

And it sometimes seems nearly every arcane spell is in a domain *somewhere*, I swear...

Yeah, I knew *ALL* was an exaggeration, but he's looking at the biggest list of buffs (and spells) in existence, bookkeeping to the extreme.

yea i know its a domain spell.

but what i'm saying is you can scribe it onto a scroll. and the archivist can learn any divine spell off of a scroll.

so he just has to buy a divine scroll of any spell and he can scribe it and then cast it.

clerics only get it as a domain list spell. but that doesn't mean an archivist can't learn it.

edit: let me explain a bit more, the cleric has the spell only on a domain list so they can only cast it if they have that domain. but a archavist doesn't have a domain list and if they learn the spell they would use a normal spell slot for the divine spell. as well, because its a domain spell an archavist can't learn it as a spell gained when they level up. since they can only learn a spell of the cleric spell list. but jsut like a druid spell they can scribe any divine spell into their prayer book at a later point in time.

No, I wasn't fully clear.

The spell description says it places the arcane spell in your "third level domain slot". You can then cast it later.
So what happens if you don't have domain slots?
Quite possibly, nothing at all.

Archivist can most definitely place it in their prayer books.
It becomes: Can they use it for any purpose?
RAW seems to point towards no....

ah my bad. i thought this was a "he can't learn the spell" issue..

no. Thomas was correct in his interpratation of my post.

An archivist can definatley learn anyspell, I just dont think he can do anything with it.
