Well, title says most of it.

Enemy spellcaster casts a Mirror Image spell. The fighter PC figures he knows which image the spellcaster is hiding behind, but there are illusionary images in the way..
The warrior decides to bull-rush one of the images, quite confident it is an image. How is this then resolved? Bull-rush involves no attack rolls, simply a contest of Strength - last I checked, illusions aren't renown for their Strength rating. For "typical" illusions, I'd say the image reacts to the bullrush attempt (possibly simply losing in a convincing fashion), but for a mirror image that is supposed to duplicate the caster's movements...

Can someone simply chose to 'ignore' what they think is a mirror image? If so, what happens when the characters starts to waltz right through the field of illusionary images?

This ends the bull rush.

Seems like an easy way to bypass having to hit the images AC (10+dex+size)... that's why I don't like the automatic contest failure, though I don't see a way around that.

But you're burning a standard action every round to do this. And 10+Dex+size isn't exactly a difficult AC to hit on the primary attack unless your target is very small or very dextrous.

I agree with Nom.

Worse, if the caster is next to the image, he gets a free AoO on you.

You do this one time to one of my images and my next spell is going to be a nasty touch attack.
