| Gold Katana11-29-03, 03:41 PM | Although the burned-out, grey ioun stone is supposedly worthless, should it still continue to circle its user's head or does it fall to the ground? |
| Ssussunriyh11-29-03, 03:50 PM | The 3.0 DMG says that a burned-out ioun stone continues to orbit without further powers. 3.5 does not specify, although the text says: "These crystalline stones always float in the air..." [emphasis added] It's up to you (or your DM) whether it keeps orbiting or not. |
| The Final Dream11-29-03, 04:17 PM | The 3.0 DMG specifies that the Dull Grey stone still floats. The 3.5 implies the same fact. I think it should. After all, who would pay 25 gp for a grey rock? If the stone still floats, you can have fun with it. Paint it different colors, and fool other into thinking you're wealthier than you are. Even better, cast Continual Flame on it for a hands-free torch. |
| ante_up11-29-03, 05:13 PM | Gray Ioun stones can also be consumed for 1 pp according to the psionics handbook. |
| Vlorich San'cheh11-30-03, 11:21 AM | there's a rule somewhere that you CANT paint or cast spells on an Ioun stone. for those exact reasons. But i think they're stupid so, by all means PAINT away! |
