| Sir Ferdinand06-01-05, 07:37 AM | Just remember that when the spell duration runs out, you will lose that 20 hp no matter what. So if during a battle you'd be reduced to say... 17 hp while you still have the Bear's Endurance on, and then the spell would end, you'd now lose that 20 hp and you'd be now at -3 hp = dying. So you must be careful with those spells. |
| stealth_monkey06-01-05, 07:46 AM | A more complex equation, but one that takes into account completely new ability scores (eg from shapeshifting) instead of just bonuses is this: (New CON bonus- Old CON bonus) x Character Level = HP gained eg. A level 17 wizard with a con of 12 who shapeshifts into a form giving a CON of 18 gains (5-1)x17= 68hp |

| Nom06-01-05, 09:13 AM | I just couldn't find an example anywhere.PH pg 25 and DMG pg 290 both contain a discussion of this issue. Pg 25 contains a brief example (the Barb gets 2 hit points per level, but these go away when rage ends) while pg 290 contains a detailed example of Con loss. |
