Well, heres what im trying to figure out...

The rules for estimating magic item values based on their properties covers save bonuses, but it only covers a save bonus to all saves... what im trying to figure out, is how to calculate the cost for a save bonus to a single save...

The SRD gives the following...

Effect Base Price Example
Save bonus (resistance) Bonus squared x 1,000 gp Cloak of resistance +5
Save bonus (other)1 Bonus squared x 2,000 gp Stone of good luck

If for example, i wanted to create a Headband of Willpower (+5 Insight bonus to Will saves) would i simply calculate the cost for a save bonus to all 3 saves, then divide it by 3?

for example... a +5 bonus(other) would be (5 x 5) * 2,000gp coming to a total of 50,000gp

would i simply divide that by 3 to get 16667gp (rounded up) for the one save?

that seems rather cheap... any ideas?

I definitely wouldn't divide by 3 -- after all, most characters have a weak save, and boosting that save is worth much of an overall plus. Boosting a fighter's Will save is huge; boosting the Reflex save is OK; boosting the Fortitude save is mostly overkill.

I'd say 1/2 cost reduction, max. More to the point, I'd think there must be *some* sourcebook which has an item which gives a bonus to a single save, which would be a good guideline.

All three for full price.
Save to one for half price.

That's how I handle it.

thanks, that seems good, the price seems more reasonable now...
