| Peltath06-20-06, 12:48 AM | Scenario: Using the 3.5 rule system - A level 4 wizard casts a spell at a level 2 fighter I know that when the Wizard casts a spell, he makes a roll 1d20+4 to beat the Fighter's spell resistance... But, what is the Fighter's spell resistance? how do you calcualte it?... And while we are at it, how do you calculate the spell resistance for the Wiazrd too? (And all the other classes, if they are different!) I'm not overly a n00b when it comes to D&D, it's just that this spell resistance stuff seems harder than I first thought. (Unless I'm just missing something simple?) Help is greatly apprechiated, thanks! :D |
| IV06-20-06, 12:49 AM | A fighter, unless he has a specific power that grants him spell resistance, doesn't have spell resistance. He simply has to make a save against the spell, if the spell grants him one. If he has a SR from another source, then the other sources should specify what the SR ranking is. |
| Peltath06-20-06, 12:58 AM | Ok, cool that makes sense, thanks. So is that that only spellcasters themselves have a spell resistance? If so, how are they calculated? |
| runestar06-20-06, 02:02 AM | Spell resistance is a feature which may be granted by your race, a class feature or some magic spell/item. Wizards on their own usually do not get spell resistance. If nothing in your entry suggests that you should have sr, then ignore it. |
| Peltath06-20-06, 02:13 AM | Awsome, thanks guys... Gee, I've been stressing for nothing  |
| Novacat06-20-06, 09:01 AM | SR isn't usually something anyone has to worry about until higher levels. However, once you do, you'll realize that SR > Good Saves. |
| runestar06-20-06, 09:12 AM | Tell that to the warmage slinging his metamagicked elemental orbs around... :) |
| Novacat06-20-06, 09:20 AM | Well, warmages are just silly anyways. |
