I'm playing a character with the Vow of Peace from BoeD and I had a discussion yesterday about what exactly it does do.
In the PHB it says that people cannot take violent or destructive actions and my dm agrees to that of course. But my character got tortured yesterday and we were talking afterwards if putting thumbscrews on my thumbs would be considered a violent action or somebody attacking me in cold blood, could he do that while under the effect of a calm emotion spell??

what are your "rules" when using calm emotion as a spell.

Nope, those are all attacks and violent in every sense of the word.

An easy test would be "If Inivsible, would this break Invisibilty? If so you can't do it while under the effect of Calm Emotions."
