I know that a non-magic focused character can cast scrolls of a higher caster level than they are by making a higher "use magic device" check, but can a cleric of 6th level cast a higher level spell than they are somehow? Please list any sources if this is possible.

Yes they can, it is in the section of reading scrolls I believe. There is a roll to see if you successfully read the scroll that is higher level then your maximum spell, if you succeed you cast it successfully, if you fail, you roll a save of some sort to see if there is a mishap, if no mishap the spell fails, if there is a mishap I think there is a mishap table. I am at work so I can not specify page number or specifics.

Ah, thanks for the tip.

I have further questions, however, how exactly does a caster level check work? In order to cast a higher level scroll, you have to make a caster level check of the scroll's caster level + 1.

Do you get to add anything onto your roll, or is the roll you make a straight d20 roll?

d20 + your caster level vs scroll's caster level (DMG pg 238). Yes, it's fairly easy to do unless the scroll is way more powerful than you are.
