| Sancus03-12-04, 04:59 AM | Good question. I don't think this is clearly addressed in the core rulebooks, although maybe someone will correct me and quote something. I would say that yes, you absolutely can cast the spell. It would affect 40ft long dowr(radius of 20ft is 40ft diameter) down your 5ft hallway, and would deal damage to the walls. |
| mbfu3k03-12-04, 06:36 AM | From the SRD: (emphasis added) When casting a cylinder-shaped spell, you select the spell’s point of origin. This point is the center of a horizontal circle, and the spell shoots down from the circle, filling a cylinder. A cylinder-shaped spell ignores any obstructions within its area. This would seem to imply that you could cast the spell on one side of a closed door and conceivably affect things on the other side of the door. I doubt this is what the designers intended but, as written, Ice Storm seems like a great way to damage targets to which you don't have line-of-effect. Weird. |

All spell effects go through all walls. The aimpoint must be legal but the blast doesn't check for obstacles. Big surprise the first time my fireball blew up something on the other side of the wall I didn't even know was there. |
