Can a Cleric Spontaneously Cast Cure spells from a Prestige Class? [Archive] - Wizards Community

A character has 3 levels of Cleric, 3 levels of Fighter, and 5 levels of the Templar prestige class. Player wants to use Cleric ability to Spontaneously Cast one of his Templar spells as a Cure (since Templars can't heal, for some reason). Seems fishy, so I initially say no, but couldn't find a rule to say one way or another.

The player had an interesting argument (done in the name of roleplaying): "I can convert an Aid into a Cure from my cleric list. I have the same Aid on my Templar list. It comes from the same God, so why can't I convert it?"

Maybe I'm just tired, but this seems like a valid question.

Can someone help clarify? I've tried searching the message boards and FAQs, but haven't found the answer to this question.

Thanks!

The Cleric has a class feature that allows it to spontaneously convert Cleric spells into cure/inflict wounds spells. Does the Templar have a similar class feature? No.

Remeber, the Templar is not a Cleric ... its a Templar. It casts spells as a Templar, not as a Cleric.

So ... you can only convert Cleric spells spontaneously.
