a duskblade in campaign im DMing was dueling a spiked chain fighter. they're both fairly high level (around 12-13). since he has quick cast 2/day, he gets second in the round (since he rolled lower init). the spiked chain fighter trips him, puts him on the floor, pretty much owns him on the floor. duskblade's turn. casts stand, quick casts bull's strength, and casts blade of blood, swings, crits 3 times and kills him. well the critting i have no control over, but can anyone look at these spells for me and see if the duskblade really does own this much? i mean i dont have the books here and i need to check if that was some crazy combo. i remember stand and blade of blood being swift and instantaneous spells but not which one was which....

No, he couldn't do that. Blade of Blood is a swift-action spell, a Quick Cast spell is also a swift action, and Stand is an immediate action, which is considered a swift action and counts against your current turn if cast on your turn, or your next turn if cast outside your initiative.

You cannot use more than one Swift action per turn.

See PHBII page 4 for the rules on Swift and Immediate actions.

As a general rule, you should always be suspect when someone casts more than two spells per round. It is possible, but dificult (One possible way is a wizard shapeshifted into a Choker, casting two spell around via standard actions and a third via Quicken. Another is using TimeStop)

Correct, however a Duskblade could Quick cast Bull's Strength and use Arcane Channeling to channel a touch spell and attack as a Standard action (However, I believe Blade of Blood is an enhancement, not a touch spell). Thus it would cost a move action to stand up from prone, then Quick-cast Bull's Strength, then use Standard action to channel a spell.
