| Thyceult08-30-06, 10:52 AM | Hi folks, Just throwing a real quick question here. I am currently running a campaign involving the presence of some Warmages. Now, an interesting question or two arose during the course of the game that I cannot immediately answer due to my limited resources. Hopefully, you guys can help me out a little. Cheers, Jesse Q1: Does a Warmage's Warmage Edge bonus damage apply to spells obtained as a result of multiclassing? Say for example we're looking at a warmage (1st level) multiclassed with a wizard of any level. Does the Warmage Edge kick in? Q1b: To complicate matters, how about spells outside the school of Evocation but also deals damage? Q2: The issue of Pearls of Power arose as well, and I was just wondering if anyone of you happens to know of any magical items from any source books that produces additionals spells per day for spontaneous casters (excluding Ring of Wizardry)? Thanks! |
| Necromas08-30-06, 11:00 AM | A1: Warmage edge specifically only applies to warmage spells and not spells from other classes. A2: The sorcerer version of pearls of power are knowstones, instead of gaining more spells per day, which makes the wizard like a sorcerer, they gain more spells known, which makes the sorcerer like a wizard. Unfortunately warmages stand nothing to gain from knowstones as they already know their entire spell list. |
| Thyceult08-30-06, 11:27 AM | Wow Necromas! I am deeply humbled by your clear command of the warmage and related subjects. As a matter of fact, I would like to ask you if you could suggest some references for which I can look up the aforementioned answers? It may be possible that I have not been diligent enough in my collection of Dragon magazines or the latest core rulebooks, but it may be possible for me to have overlooked it at some point as well. Thanks again, you're a lifesaver! Jesse;) |
| Witch08-30-06, 12:21 PM | Complete Arcane - Warmage -- Class Features --- Warmage Edge ---- "The bonus from the warmage edge special ability applies only to spells that he casts as a warmage, not to those he might have by virtue of multiclassing." Right there in the book ;) Page 13. |
| Richmud08-30-06, 05:42 PM | I can not remember the name of the item but in races of dragon there is an item that is the pearl of power for sorcs |
| Thyceult08-30-06, 10:40 PM | Complete Arcane - Warmage -- Class Features --- Warmage Edge ---- "The bonus from the warmage edge special ability applies only to spells that he casts as a warmage, not to those he might have by virtue of multiclassing." Right there in the book ;) Page 13. Haha short of sounding like an dunce (if I already haven't), I did not quite have access to the Complete Arcane at the time of asking this question. Ironically, the Complete Arcane was in possession of my resident warmage at the time, who in turn does not happen to be the person that thought of the "multiclassing combo". So now I guess the mystery's solved eh? Indeed, all this would have been easily resolved if we just had more copies of the Complete Arcane to go around. :P Anyways, kudos to you Witch and Richmud for your timely assistance. I do look forward to sharing more mysteries with you folks in the futures. Thanks a bundle again! Whee~ Jesse P.S.: With reference to Races of Dragon, just to refer, you're not referring to the Draconomicon are you? Nevertheless, just to be sure, I'll go ahead and look it up in there! |
| Richmud08-31-06, 08:52 AM | Races of dragon is definatly a diffrent book from the draconomicon. Its actually got a lot of nice stuff for spontainious casters though much of it requires you be related dragons (unsuprising giving the title) |
| Thyceult08-31-06, 09:55 PM | Hhmm, After looking through the Draconomicon, I came to the same unfortunate conclusion. Well, I guess this boils down to the fact that we don't get much book import support on D&D material down here. :( Looks like I will have to head over to Kinokuniya or something to look it up. You've been a great help Richmud, thanks for setting me in the right direction! Cheers mate, Jesse :embarrass |
| Richmud08-31-06, 10:31 PM | No problem, happy to help. Finally got around to looking it up the item it is called a memento magica and does provide spell slots to spontaneous casters, its specifically compared to the pearl of power in its description |
