| Malakant02-22-05, 04:56 PM | Can I use maximize, fell drain/fell weaken, empower on the spell Blade Barrier? |
| smrtgmp02-22-05, 04:59 PM | I dont see why not. Maximize and Empower both affect varialbe numeric effects. Fell Drain affects anyone damaged by the spell. Seems pretty stait-forward, IMO. |
| Seeker9502-22-05, 07:22 PM | blade barrier is a 6th level spell. Maximize adds 3 levels to the slot requirement. Empower adds 2 levels to the slot. Fell Drain adds X levels to the slot. So unless you have at least an 11th level spell slot, I'd say no. |
| smrtgmp02-22-05, 07:24 PM | I think he meant one at a time. As in could the feats affect the spell. |
| Seeker9502-22-05, 07:36 PM | I think he meant can he use all three on it at once. If he does mean each independently, the answer is always yes. There are no spells to which you cannot apply a metamagic feat. It just wouldn't get you anywhere in some cases. |
| SwollenOstrich02-22-05, 08:52 PM | There are no spells to which you cannot apply a metamagic feat. It just wouldn't get you anywhere in some cases. Using your logic stated above, wouldnt it be impossible to add a metamagic feat to a 9th level spell (assuming the caster has no slots above 9). |
| Seeker9502-22-05, 09:03 PM | Using your logic stated above, wouldn't it be impossible to add a metamagic feat to a 9th level spell (assuming the caster has no slots above 9).This is true. But it is not the spell or the metamagic that cause the restriction. It is the level of the spell. |
| Malakant02-23-05, 08:34 PM | I did mean one at a time. I guess what my question really is what spells would it actually be useful to add Maximize Spell on? For instance does the damage blade barrier count as a variable of the spell, does the hit points of a summoned monster count as a variable effect of the spell, and if not does the damage a orb of acid deals count an effect of the spell even though the spell doesn't deal any damage (the conjured orb if acid deals the damage)? |
