| planesinger08-11-06, 06:40 PM | Flame Blade Evocation [Fire] Level: Drd 2 Components: V, S, DF Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: 0 ft. Effect: Sword-like beam Duration: 1 min./level (D) Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: Yes A 3-foot-long, blazing beam of red-hot fire springs forth from your hand. You wield this bladelike beam as if it were a scimitar. Attacks with the flame blade are melee touch attacks. The blade deals 1d8 points of fire damage +1 point per two caster levels (maximum +10). Since the blade is immaterial, your Strength modifier does not apply to the damage. A flame blade can ignite combustible materials such as parchment, straw, dry sticks, and cloth. The spell does not function underwater. Can I cast twice this spell and wield two Flame Blade? If so, and if I used Metamagic, Empower, lesser Rod to cast this spell twice, and wield two Flame Blade, it is possibility? |
| Thiez08-11-06, 06:44 PM | I don't think it's unreasonable to allow someone to have two of these weapons. This is almost like casting minor creation twice. I'd allow it and I think RAW would agree with me. Edit: This is way cool if you would make some kind of 'Flame-saber' wonderous item (make two of them!) and then multiclass into a TWF'ing Ranger :) |
| yonman08-11-06, 06:45 PM | Can I casted twice this spell and wield two Flame Blade? If so, and if I used Metamagic, Empower, lesser to cast this spell twice, and wield two Flame Blade, it is possibility? You only need 1 hand free to cast a spell with a Somatic component, so you could if you had 2 hands free. |
| planesinger08-11-06, 07:24 PM | You only need 1 hand free to cast a spell with a Somatic component, so you could if you had 2 hands free. But I used one hand to hold the Metamagic, Empower, lesser Rod, and another hand wielding the Flame Blade when can cast the spell first time, Can I cast next time and own the second Empowered Flame Blade? or chuck the Rod when spell casting at the same time? |
| Illuman08-11-06, 07:26 PM | I Love making new spells so I would create my own doing just what you said. Flame Blade Dual Flameblade Evocation [Fire] Level: Drd 3 Components: V, S, DF Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: 0 ft. Effect: Sword-like beam Duration: 1 min./level (D) Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: Yes 2 3-foot-long, blazing beams of red-hot fire spring forth from your hands. You wield these bladelike beams as if it were two scimitars. Attacks with the flame blades are melee touch attacks. The blades deals 1d10 points of fire damage +1 point per two caster levels (maximum +10). Since the blades are immaterial, your Strength modifier does not apply to the damage. the flame blades can ignite combustible materials such as parchment, straw, dry sticks, and cloth. Requires two free hands to cast. The spell does not function underwater. Two weapon penalties still apply. Modified slightly from the original with upgraded damage potential but it works. |
| planesinger08-12-06, 01:59 AM | oh, another question, Have any way to impove the damage? If only within core book? If sourcebook, Arcane Strike (CW) sounds nice. |
| cwslyclgh08-12-06, 02:34 AM | oh, another question, Have any way to impove the damage? If only within core book?try Empower Spell |
| UmbralKnight08-12-06, 02:41 AM | You could always clench that metamagic rod between your teeth  |
| bondious08-12-06, 03:56 AM | You could always clench that metamagic rod between your teeth  Or grow a third arm, or a prehensile tail or tenticle. :D |
| Atirakis08-12-06, 04:09 AM | Twin Spell or Repeat Spell would both effectively give you 2 Flameblades. |
| cwslyclgh08-12-06, 04:13 AM | hmmm a literal reading of both those feats could be read as to indicate that both flame blades would spring from the same hand... which would not be helpful as the new flame blade would just replace the older one. |
| planesinger08-12-06, 04:48 AM | I think the spell can create two blade... Did the Weapon Specialization (Scimitar) feat and Ranger's favored enemy can improve the FIRE damage? |
| ItaraKoturo08-12-06, 08:56 PM | hmmm a literal reading of both those feats could be read as to indicate that both flame blades would spring from the same hand... which would not be helpful as the new flame blade would just replace the older one. The spell states "your hand", not "your right hand" or "your left hand". Presumably the caster retains the ability to determine which hand the Flame Blade springs from. |
| Atirakis08-13-06, 12:45 AM | Any DM that said no to this is probably a little too strict. I like to run a tight ship myself but you cant nerf all the fun away. |
| cwslyclgh08-13-06, 01:08 AM | I have no problem with dual weilding flame blades, just using twin or repeat spell to do it... because the second spell is exactly the same as the first when those feats are used, which in my mind would include which hand it formed in... |
| CaoSlayer08-13-06, 04:46 AM | I Love making new spells so I would create my own doing just what you said. Flame Blade Dual Flameblade Evocation [Fire] Level: Drd 3 Components: V, S, DF Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: 0 ft. I would modify the text to threat the dual blades as light weapons, a -4 to hit with each make it way less useful and it is safe to say that a weapon of pure fire isnt heavy at all. |
| Sunai_Retsinis08-13-06, 05:23 AM | If you are sort of depleted in the hands department, you can always use the Girallon's Blessing spell from the spell companion. You grow an extra pair of arms, and you can use them normally. You can wield two flame blades, your rod for casting and have still one arm free for a shield, toss a potion somewhere or just to scratch your back ;) Sunai |
| planesinger08-13-06, 07:41 AM | I would modify the text to threat the dual blades as light weapons, a -4 to hit with each make it way less useful and it is safe to say that a weapon of pure fire isnt heavy at all. It is touch melee attack, easy to hit. Except some monster with high dex bonus, but you can try to Rage or Flank, it is? ;) But actually, If can use Weapon Finesse is best and best. |
| CaoSlayer08-13-06, 09:10 AM | yes, but the spell it is actually penalized because your average druid dont know to TWF, so a normal druid will have about a -6 -10 to hit with them, having the penalties to be -4 -8 isnt going to break the spell and make it workable. |
| planesinger08-13-06, 10:27 AM | try to 7 Druid/ 2 Fighter or 1 Barbarian/ 9 Druid, 32 points, human, Str 22 (16+2 level up+4 belt), Dex 18 (16+2 gloves or 14+4 gloves), item create by self, TWF, ITWF, WF (or not), used Empower lesser Rod (9K GP) or use Empower spell by self, to hit : 7 Bab+ 6 Str+ 1WF+ 1 Haste- 4 TWF= +11/+11/+6/+11/+6, rage +2, flank +2, (1 Barbarian/ 9 Druid) damage is (5d8+20)*1.5=42*1.5=63 fire damage, sounds nice. :P |
| Bulletproof_Condom08-13-06, 02:30 PM | Can I just say your grammar is wonderful. You make me happy. I think you can wielding two flame blade. Have the fun. |
| SlagMortar08-13-06, 03:19 PM | Don't be a jerk BC. He is likely speaking English as a second language and certainly speaks English better than I speak any second language. |
| Osedox08-13-06, 03:57 PM | I dont have a problem with dual flame blades, but have a problem with the druid spell list in general. Alot of their spells are total BS, why in the 9 hells is this a Druid spell and not also (if not exclusivly) a Sor/Wiz spell. Especialy with all of the new suppliments adding new spells, the druid list is getting more and more out of hand all the time. |
