| braethias04-30-07, 07:08 PM | Mage armor is a normal 'Armor bonus' yeah? If it is, no. If it's a Force bonus, than yes. Do you have a PHB? I don't have mine ATM. |
| Palomides04-30-07, 07:14 PM | Since bonus of the same type do not stack and that Mage Armor spell give a AC bonus of type armor, and that normal armor (chain shirt, leather armor, full plate, ...) give also a AC bonus of type armor, it does not stack. |
| Jaxgaret04-30-07, 10:30 PM | They do not stack. They overlap, due to the fact that they are both Armor bonuses. However, the Mage Armor will provide protection against incorporeal attacks, whereas the regular armor will not. |

(http://www.d20srd.org) Mage armor provides an armor bonus. So does normal armor. They don't stack. I don't know where you're getting this idea that force effects stack with it or that there's some odd Force bonus to AC. (The only exception is that Mage Armor, being a spell with the [Force] descriptor, will protect against incorporeal touch attacks, unlike normal armor.) |
| NineInchNall05-01-07, 12:38 AM | Cut him some slack, TS. :) Do you have any idea how many people out there who have played the game for years and hardly ever looked at the spell descriptions or even the rules for magic at all? It's pretty mindboggling. There was a moment in my current group where they were about to rule that I couldn't see through my figments. Why? They'd never read the subschool description! A good friend of mine had never heard of scry and die tactics - by any name. Incidentally, this may be a major reason for the persistence of the Fighter threads. |
