Can someone explain to me how spell resistance works? [Archive] - Wizards Community

1. In the Rules Compendium page 130 covers how spell resistance. The easy way to figure it roll a d20 + your caster level for that spell. The caster level is normally your class level. You take the result of this roll and compare it to the creatures SR if the result is equal to the SR the spell works.

2. Some creatures automatically have SR, you can also get it by magic items or spells.

The mantle of spell resistance is 90000, and give SR 21, but by the time you can get it without breaking the bank at 17th level a 17th level caster only needs a roll of 4, and that is if he has no way to increase caster level, and even a caster of 11th level(6 below 17th) can beat it with a roll of a 10.

No to mention there's a feat that lets you take 10 on CL checks, making it an even bigger waste of money.

What feat is that? It might be useful for dispelling purposes.
I don't think that feat is needed to overcomes a PC's spell resistance if he paid for it.
