Similar thing would go for anyone else who doesn't sleep like a construct PC of some kind, etc. Would you have to pray like a cleric/druid, or just 'rest' somehow, or something else? -Drake- |
| DarknessEternal10-26-06, 11:44 AM | Regaining spells for anything doesn't require sleep. Rest is all. Rest is not sleep. |
| drunkendrake10-26-06, 11:49 AM | So, just how inactive do you have to be to be 'resting?' would you be able to, say, look around? would you be aware at all? thanks, -Drake- |
| CryoSilver10-26-06, 11:55 AM | Resting means no combat/spellcasting/crafting/etc. You can rest by just chilling; you'd be as aware as someone IRL watching TV, or hanging out with friends. |
| drunkendrake10-26-06, 12:04 PM | Great, thanks all... Ghost PC for me! -drake- |
| Incognito2me10-26-06, 01:54 PM | Erm, not 'watching tv or hanging with your mates'. You can't even talk or gesture while preparing. So it's more like having your body immobile. |
| mvincent10-26-06, 02:14 PM | From the rules (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicOverview/arcaneSpells.htm#rest): "The wizard does not have to slumber for every minute of the time, but she must refrain from movement, combat, spellcasting, skill use, conversation, or any other fairly demanding physical or mental task during the rest period." I believe "movement" here refers to say, using your move speed (rather than say, blinking and such), and "conversation" seems to imply using more than a couple words. TV watching would suffice. Hanging with friends might, depending on your friends. |

| Thiez10-26-06, 02:33 PM | That's the cool think about being an undead caster: you can simply stand and stare at something for 8 hours, then regain spells. |

Your character has to focus on his spells and nothing else.We were actually talking about the 8 rest time rather than the 1 hour prep time: "Spell Preparation Time After resting, a wizard must study her spellbook to prepare any spells that day. If she wants to prepare all her spells, the process takes 1 hour. " |

If there was a stream nearby, he'd find a place where he could be completely submerged and rest there. Other times he'd pile leaves and things on himself and rest like that. In towns, he would sometimes tip the tavern keeper a little extra and sit in a corner table and not move, literally, for hours. |
