Hi

I am DMing a game full of Monster PC's and instead of dealing damage to the Lycanthrope, I wanted to heal him of the the Lycanthropey.

Can the Heal Spell Cure a Natural Lycanthrope?

Just wanted to get ideas on subject, before I do it. (Don't worry, he will get it back ;-)

No that would be like healing a human of being human :D

There was a spell that I seen that inhabited a creatures shape changing ability but I don't remember where I seen it. Might have been in the spell compendium but I am not absolutely certain It only effected the individual for a short period maybe rounds or minutes.

You could try a curse I would say that is in line with the effects of a curse.

You want a spell that prevents shape-shifting. If it does not exist, write one up.

How about a 6th level version that lasts for days and you need to be of higher level than the caster to dispell it?

Only afflicted lycanthropes can be cured of lycanthropy.
So sayeth the SRD. And even then:A remove disease or heal spell cast by a cleric of 12th level or higher also cures the affliction, provided the character receives the spell within three days of the lycanthrope’s attack.

Trying to heal a natural lycanthrope of lycanthropy is like trying to heal a half-dragon of dragon-ness. It's not possible.

Isn't Lycanthropy a Disease? A Natural Lycanthrope is just some one born with the disease right? Isn't it just the Family curse has just been passed down.

Thanks for the feedback,

Natural lycans are an inherited template, afflicted are an aquired template. You can only contract it from a natural lycan. It spreads like a disease but is not.

Think of it more like a genetic attack than a curse......though in D&D terms that is what it is.

Natural Lycanthropes aren't cursed, though. They have complete control of their power, and can change at will. It's only the afflicted Lycanthropes that go berserk under the full moon and attack things.

You can always kill yourself and cast reincarnate. I think that works but don't quote me on it.

Contingency would do it, if you happened to be able to cast both 4th level druid spells and 6th level sorc/wiz spells.

Not to get further off topic, but is there an arcane caster level requirment for Craft Contingent Spell (or whatever the name of that feat is)?
