can you apply your metampagic feat to a wand? [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-12-07, 09:46 PM Not normally, no. You can do so when you are making the wand, i.e. make a wand of Extended Invisibility though of course, its now a wand with a 3rd level spell by a 5th level caster (minimum).

However, there are some feats that allow you to apply metamagic to wands and staves. I am sans books at the moment, but I think they are from Eberron and/or Complete Mage. But without those feats, the answer is no.

I believe there may be an item in Complete Mage that allows you to apply metamagic to a wand X/day for double charges or some such. Then again, I may be imagining this....

06-13-07, 12:19 AM I couldn't find it in either Complete Arcane or Complete Mage, but I know I saw the item too. It's basically some sort of "Wand Handle". You attach any wand into the handle and it lets you apply metamagic feats you know to the wand usage for extra charges.

Perhaps it's in the MIC, or maybe Spell Compendium... if that has magical items in it.

Found it! It actually is in Complete Mage (duh). There are two methods:

Metamagic Spell Trigger (pg45) - a feat that lets you apply metamagic to any spell-trigger item
Metamagic Wand Grip (pg133) - basically what I said before, only works on wands and otherwise works like the feat.
