I encounter this problem in my recent compaign. I am a mage and I cast a primatic wall to protect my team. Then I want to cast another spell on a foe on aother side of this wall. However, DM rules that I can not do that. His reason is indigo layer of prismatic wall can stop all spells. That implies it can stop not only the spells from your enemy, but also your own ones.

I know in the description of prismatic sphere, it states clearly that you can not cast a spell out when you in the sphere. But I just couldn't find similar statement in the description of prismatic wall.

I just wander if there is a clear and exact statement in the rule says that I can not cast the spell through my own prismatic wall. Thanks!

You can't, for the same reason you stated. That, and it blocks line of effect and sight.

If ever you're confused about prismatic walls, use the same rules as you would using prismatic sphere.

Essentially, prismatic sphere is pretty much the same thing as having a prismatic wall in all directions around you except downwards, if I recall correctly.

So, if they can't see you, you cant see them, and thus you can't target them with spells. Also, although not really important, the only way I can remember to bypass a prismatic entity is to go ethereal or pass under it.

Well I think that transdimensional sepll would allow you to bypass a prismatic wall or sphere. But frankly it is hardly worth a feat.

The FAQ clarified that the portion of the prismatic wall intersecting with the ground (the lower hemisphere) actually exists, and so you can't just tunnel underneath it, though that would work for a Prismatic wall.

Also, as abjurations, Prismatic Wall/Sphere extend onto the Ethereal Plane.

Again, this is somewhat of a moot point for Prismatic Wall, as you can just walk through the non-prismatic surroundings.

Your DM is right.

Your restrictions on proof remind me of those that might say "a dead player can still take actions, since there is no clear andexact statement you can't take actions while dead.
