| Lixith05-03-07, 03:45 PM | Can you Maximize a summoning spell? I don't THINK there is a rule against it, but it just sounds weird. What effect would it have? The monster does max damage on a successfull hit???? That sorta thing? Say i summon A shadow... maximized(sudden, so still level 5 spell).... 6STR damage on each successfull TOUCH attack.... hummmmm... would it work? That would be a great follow-up to a maximized or empowered escilating enfeblement..... Good necromancer stragegy or not??? |
| EvilVegan05-03-07, 03:49 PM | It maximizes the spell's numeric variable effects, which in this case the only numeric variable of the spell is number of creatures summoned, which means you summon the maximum number possible. Empower works better in my opinion. |
| Seeker9505-03-07, 04:12 PM | EV has steered you right. Maximized summons gets you the maximum number of creatures. |
| tarkin05-03-07, 04:37 PM | Above are correct. Maximize only works on things direct caused by the spell. The following are not directly caused by the spell. Any attack roll made by summoned creatures Any damage roll made by summoned creatures Any stat of a summoned/created/awakened creature (i.e. you can't maximize an Awaken spell) |
| Lixith05-03-07, 11:22 PM | Cool, thanks guys. |
| Capt. Pixel05-03-07, 11:25 PM | You might want to consider Extend Spell also. |
| EvilVegan05-04-07, 08:08 AM | Yes, extend is nice, as is rapid spell. Look for a way to get these for free, with divine metamagic or sudden metamagic, or both. But if you're a dedicated summoner you may be lacking on feats, so take a level dip into something that grants augment summoning early on. Or get into incantatrix. |
