We already have the Hand of the Mage for 900gp, and an item often mentioned on these boards is the Slotted Item of Prestidigitation, varying in price from 750gp to 1500gp, depending on the whim of the poster. These items give a character the option of using a specific cantrip/orison at will. Neither of these items is game-breaking.

What other Slotted Items of Cantrip X would you want for your character (for players), or allow in your game (for DMs)?

Here is the list of currently published WotC 0-level spells, in alphabetical order. Each spell in this list appears on some class' 0-level slot option. There are a number of spells I would not allow (generally offensive) as an at-will item, but your mileage may differ.

I can't say I've never wanted a Glove of Acid Splash or its equivalent in other forms of energy. Come to think of it, I'd probably go so far as to allow a magic item that could use Acid Splash, Ray of Frost, and their equivalents in fire and electricity (not familiar with the rest of those cantrips) at will. 1d3 energy damage is hardly game-breaking.

The only Slot Item of Cantrip X I might have a problem with as a DM would be Goggles of Detect Magic.

Arcane Mark would be good, especially if you routinely use the teleportation spell that returns you to the site of your arcane mark.

Create Water would be incredibly useful as well -- so would most any detect spell.

Mending and purify drink would be good too.

So would Amanuensis.

Heat Water and Glittering Razors (From Dragon 302, I believe it was) would also be useful.

I'm suprised the item of Cure Minor Wounds hasn't been mentioned yet... ;)

I know I brought it up, but let's not talk about it anymore... :D

Item that shines Light when the command work is spoken = very nice. (Make it so that you can attach it to the top of a staff)

Then there is the (custom) item of Antimagic-Field detection: it uses Mage Hand to make a tiny metal ball float inside a glass container. When you hear the ball hit the glass, you're either standing inside an AMF, or someone just dispelled the item.

A music box of lullaby is cool. (It'd be use-activated. Since concentration isn't required, it may need a slight price adjustment, though the DC is quite low.)

From what book is 'Seeker's Chant' ?

Havers Red Eye!
Its just a ring of prestidigitation, with a cool name, but I had much fun with it.
A family heirloom, the Red Eye was a ring with a huge, flawed, ruby.
Havers Makebate, Necromancer,Lawyer and all around dandy, used it to clean the bodies of the dead, summon "tea" and cups from the the nether, gather evidence, remove evidence, and accessorize his hair and clothes.
I was eventually gonna add unseen servant to it, creating a true gentelmans ring.

Message is cool, but see the new Ring of Sending(Magic Item Compendium)
The old Launch Bolt could be Chain Spelled, a combo that just fits into a wand.
The new one is still cool, but I would want the the item to allow CrossBow enhancements, since all it does is save the weight of an actual crossbow.

A locket of Guidance, would be mighty handy.

I'm not familiar with several of those, but I've no problem with a flat 900 or so for pretty much any of them except cure minor wounds, repair minor damage, and create water. One of my own characters has recently had a custom item made specifically to have prestidigitation and mending at will with unseen servant 3/day. I call it my valet gem. I clean and repair my favorite outfit and have it pressed and folded for me each morning thanks to that little trinket.

Hmm...I want one. Wouldn't that be a little pricey, though? Just having the two cantrips at will puts you back 1800, plus whatever for the Unseen Servants. Oh well, I guess that's the price you have to pay to get your work done for you.
