| Mera'din10-20-04, 01:22 PM | I play a full elf that is persuing Archane Archer as a presitge class. In oder for me to acheive such status I need to be able to cast arcane spells. So far my class levels are... ranger x 3 Fighter x 2 Wizard x 1 Order of the bow x 1 I want to specialize in a school of magic to get extra spells. It was suggested by my group that I should drop necromancy as a school becuase an elf would not be interested in such things. This is my first time playing DnD and I declared undead as my favored enermy (mistake I know but if fits my story for my character). My thought is that having undead as my favored enemy would justify my thought for having necromancy as a school of study. It's not like i am going to go around raising things, i just want to kill them better. My character drive and goal is to become the best archer he can, and be dealier at it. I am going to take 2 levels in Arcane archer for the enhancement bonus and the imbue magic ability. After that I don't know. When I look at the spell list for wizards necromancy would be of great benefit for imbuing spells. What do you think? Should I give it up, keep it, or even specialize in it. |

By ensaring people's minds, evil wizards force them to obey their rules/laws. No right thinking Chaotic Elf would cast such a bunch of "lawfull" spells |
| Joram10-20-04, 01:35 PM | It all fits. You hate undead, and you don't want to mess around with spell that deal with death or undeath. So you abanddon them. But Necromancery is NOT evil. Common misseption And by the way, why is taking undead as a favoured enemy a mistake? |
| Babs10-20-04, 03:56 PM | Ehm, I thought one of the nicest spells versus undead are healing spells. Healing spells are necromancy in 3.5! (3.0 conjuration (healing)) |
| darczero10-20-04, 10:05 PM | Necromancy is not evil, but many of the spells contained therein are. However, as the rest of the Necromancy spells tend to have better effects against Undead (Undeath to Death. Enough said.), it is a worthy specialization, as long as you don't give up the wrong school for your specialization. I will not make any specific judgement calls; every school of magic has its benefits, and every school also has its share of worthless spells. |
