| XunValDorl of HouseKilsek12-12-04, 03:19 PM | I have been watching cartoons for a long time. I have noticed a few items that would be cool for D&D, or some that would be cool to put into D&D form. Here are a few that I have come up with, if you want to add more please do. Samson's Gaunlets: These gauntlet's from the show Samson and Goliath would be cool as items. Actually my wizard has a pair I made, they give you the benefit of Tenser's Transformation 3/day 1 round per level of caster who made it. Gummi Beary Juice: I haven't finished this one yet, still working on it. Link's Sword: Link's sword from the Legend of Zelda, I love the way it shoots the little sword beams. I haven't come up with this yet. Dora's Backpack and Map: The backpack and map from Dora the Explorer would be great items. The backpack is a bag of holding, and it allows you to have Uncanny Dodge, and immunity to sneak attacks. The Map will always give you directions to anywhere you want to go. He-Man's Sword: This one will take a little time, but I think I can come up with something. Space Ghost's Power Bands: I have come up with two powers of these bands. One is a Scorching Ray, one is a Ring of the Ram affect, but I can't come up with the last one. Those are just a few, please post your ideas and items that you would like to discuss. |

| Neofish12-12-04, 03:27 PM | Next you'll be saying you want Hellboy's right hand of Doom.... |

| Erix d'Pheer12-12-04, 05:07 PM | The Master Sword is certainly not something you can just throw into a DnD game - it's a major artifact, or at the very least an epic magic item. |
| Vaalingrade Ashland12-12-04, 06:07 PM | Artifact in the same way 2000 year old pottery is an artifact. Or possibly from the standpoint of Hyrule's magic level, but there is no way the MAster Sword is a DnD level artifact or epic item. It is a sword that hits 3x harder than a normal sword and grants a ranged attack when the weilder is in perfect health. Kobolds would laugh at Link. |
| Terratek12-12-04, 08:01 PM | Let's give this a shot... Mario's Mushroom: Yes, the mushrooms from the pre-N64 Mario video games. Casts Enlarge Person on those who eat it, and is treated as a potion using the alternate potion rules in Complete Arcane. The Evil Jar: This is the enormous smoke-filled glass jar used by Gannon in the short-lived Legend of Zelda cartoon series to summon his minions. The jar contains a negative energy demiplane inhabited by fiendish orcs and orc skeletons. Each day, the Evil Jar can be used to summon 25HD of these creatures, as a Summon Monster spell, except as noted. Summoned creatures can speak Common, Infernal, and Abyssial, and appear equipped with mundane weapons and armor as designated by the user at the time of summoning. When a summoned crerature is destroyed, it is returned to the Evil Jar, and can be spoken to through the glass surface of the jar. Only 25HD of creatures can ever be summoned out of the jar at any one time, but creatures summoned by it stay and serve the jar's user indefinitely. That's all for now. Maybe later I'll do the magic crystals from The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin. |

Link is epic, and the Master Sword is the Blade of Evil's Bane. Kobolds do not laugh at the guy who single-handedly slays the Great King of Evil. In any case, Link is generally understood to be the hero, in all his iterations, so unless you're arguing that the residents of Hyrule, Termina, the Great Sea, Labrynna and etc. are all losers, Link and the Master Sword are uber by definition. |

I am. I doubt anything in Hyrule was over 10HD and the 10HD things are things like Gannon or the Windfish -- end bosses no one has to think about unless they're Link. Besides, being a well known hero doesn't translate into a higher level. Apperently, nothing happens in Hyrule that's not Link related, so of course the little pipsqueak is going to be famous. As for the master sword, like I said, +3, Extended, possibly intellegent with the purpose to Slay a specific target. And a great backstory. In DnD terms, its only mid level. We're talking about differnt worlds with different levels of magic. I mean Sting would only be +1 Orc Bane and Heman is only a 5th level commoner with a swrod that casts Tenser's Transformation. That doesn't lessen thier signifigance, just thier mechanical power. |
| lordsathien12-13-04, 07:57 AM | I actually did the math on creating link's krissword form the Zelda Cartoon. All I did was make it a +2 shortsword that could fire searing light as a standard action (caster level 7th) whenever the wielder had 90% or more hit points (an allowance for D&D to make the ability worth the extra cost). As for the newer stuff, let it give you Whirlwind Attack for free with the flaming weapon property whenever you do it :-P Now for my little entry... Captain N's Power Belt [CL 17th]: Magical belt with a buckle containing labelled buttons that can be pressed inward (a second press brings the button back to normal). Each button drains a certain number of charges for a special effect. Charges are fully regenerated every week (because that's how long ya had to wait for the next episode). The Power Belt has 50 charges on it. "A" Button = Jump (1 charge) "Start" Button = When the wearer shouts the word "Pause" and presses the 'start" button he enjoys the benefits of a Time stop effect (10 charges) "B" Button = Expeditious Retreat (1 charge) Captain N's Zapper: The magical weapon owned by the same legendary warrior resides in a holster at the hip attached to the power belt. The zapper is actually a wand, crafted to resemble something similar in shape to a hand crossbow missing the bow portion. The zapper allows the wielder to produce a force effect akin to magic missile but with the variation that it only fires one missile that deals 5d4+5 damage. Each use of this ability drains 1 charge from the Zapper's 50 charges that fully regenerate after one week. Hope ya like them :-P |
