| Vatras03-13-05, 10:41 AM | I cannot fathom the intent of your question... |
| Slad Chaos03-13-05, 10:45 AM | I search a mean to a spellcaster to cast the spell on him without an other spellcaster. Because the caster can't cast the spell on him/her. |

Do you mean a spell he cannot cast, because he is too low in level? Like a sorcerer wanting a spell of 8th lebel, and he is himself too low at 5th level? In that case a scroll might help, but there is a check. Do you mean a spell the caster cannot have at all, because its on someone else class list? Like a wizard wanting a cleric buff? That would require either a cleric or acquiring a PrC who gives access in some way. A cohort could also help out there. Do you mean a spell of a type the caster has denied himself, like a specialist wizard who gave up Transmutation and now wants to be polymorphed? in that case it depends on the DM. In many games you could still use a scroll to do it, in others (like mine) you cannot use such things at all. As you see above, I am still not sure about your question. If a spellcaster has a spell he can usually cast it on himself, a range of touch allows to cast on anyone he can touch, including himself after all. We will probably need a description of your problem, if none of the above hit the mark. |

| pseudoidiot03-13-05, 11:26 AM | just curious, what spell? i dont play magic users much, but i dont think i've seen any spells that can't affect the caster. |
| Vatras03-13-05, 11:32 AM | Thats a funny one, as I know of no spell at all, that the caster cannot use on himself....you can even Soultrap or imprison yourself, if you feel like it. The only spell I can recall of excluding its own caster is a divine buff, which affects only the casters allies, but not himself - as it isnt touch like you said, that cannot be the problem. Any and all touch spells I know of can be cast on yourself. There are spells that will not work on you (because you are immune to it), but cast them you can. If its that kind of problem you are out of luck, no matter who casts it (like you being an undead and want some mindaffecting spell on you). If a condition prevents him from spellcasting - like being paralyzed - he would have to be prepared ahead of time. A wizard with a prepared stilled and silent Magic Jar, who has the gem on him could conceivably possess someone and cast then with the new body on the old one. If he doesnt have such prepared emergency spells, he is out of luck, as they dont work on the fly. The same goes for familiars. There are things which enable a familiar to cast spells, but they have to be in place beforehand (imbue spell, familiar spell) and are limited in scope. |
