A Magic item that give + to CL, but only on a specific spell. What would the price be per bump? Oh, and it IS slotted (( stupid ioun stones )).

Giving a blanket price for such an item is, IMO, impossible. I think it would depend on the level of the spell in question and, to a smaller extent, the CL dependency of said spell. So, with that in mind, what spell were you thinking of?

Regarding your other question, a slotless item is one that does not take up a standard body slot, thereby preventing the use of other items which occupy the same slot. For instance, you can only benefit from a single pair of boots at a time.

On the other hand, the only limit on the number of slotless items you can use at one time is how many you can afford. Theoretically, you could have a small galaxy of ioun stones in orbit around your head.

I would price it at bonus^2 * price of the normal ioun stone. :)

But the normal ioun stone affects every spell you cast. That strikes me as being worth more money than what the OP is after, unless I misunderstood the original question.

Actually, I think that my idea won't work with magic/psionics evenly . . . the actual item is for a power, now thinking about it, well, lets see.

A level 1 spell (power). I want to boost CL (ML) for it and it alone. With the requirement that I have to be specialized in that school (be a shaper).

What power? Astral Construct?

. . . maybe . . . What would that matter? Any power of 1st level!

I put in precedence:

Ioun Stone, CL to all, no slot: 30,000

With that, we can backwards engineer that a slotted would be 15,000.

The item creation guidelines are always only guidelines – a great deal of DM common sense is required. It is absolutely imperative that we know which power you have in mind, because the cost should be greater for some powers. More importantly, some things should be just plain banned (not an issue for a minor increase of caster level, but look at Ring of use-activated True Strike and you'll see why it's always best to ask "what spell?" first).
