The caster levels will not "stack".

However, the wording of spellcaster advancement in either PrC may allow you to advance in one or the other (or a third, base caster class).

Selecting your spells will be equally separate.

let's first note that you need to have bardic music to get into the class, and some skills at 13 ranks... but ok, let's assume you met the prerequisites:

then, your caster level for both assassin and sublime chord is 14, but spells for the sublime chord must come from either the bard or sorcerer lists (no assassin).

do my bard levels add to my caster level as well?

this is not clear; by RAW, you act like this:

- you choose another arcane spellcasting class you have (like bard or assassin)

- you add together that class' levels and sublime chord levels

- you use the result as caster level for ALL your arcane spellcasting classes (bard, assassin, sublime chord, and any other you may have or take in the future)

However, if you want my opinion, something wrong happens here... for exemple, suppose you are bard 4/ assassin 5/sorcerer 1... as soon as you take your first sublime chord level you choose as arcane spellcasting class for adding caster level your assassin class. Now your caster level for bard, assassin, sorcerer and sublime chord is 6 (IMHO, too much a gain).
Now suppose you add three bard levels. That brings your total bard levels to 7... but then, due to the rules about sublime chord, and the fact you choose assassin as caster class, your bard caster level reamins 6!!!!

What should be, IMHO, is:

- you choose another arcane spellcasting class you have (like bard or assassin)

- you add together that class' levels and sublime chord levels

- you use the result as caster level for sublime chord and the other class ONLY (if you choose assassin, then it's sublime chord and assassin, but no bard.)

SO, to answer your question, your bard levels don't add to caster level (if you have chosen to use assassin class).
Then, by RAW, your caster level for bard is however the same as the caster level for sublime chord (14 in this case);
or, using more probable rules, your bard caster level remains the same.

i only had 1 level of bard any way, its a very strange character that is very well optimized
