It is a touch spell that gives the subject a plus 1 on saves. So do you cast this in response to a need to save, or ahead of time. If you cast it in response, how does that work with the initiative order? |

When you ready an action you have to state during your turn under what conditions you will cast the spell. Readying an action is a standard action, so you can't cast a spell or make an attack during your turn if you ready an action. Example: - On my initiative (say 14) I make my move action, then as my standard action, I ready an action, like so:"If the enemy spellcaster begins to cast a spell, I'll cast resistance on myself." My turn is over. - If at anytime before the beginning of my next turn the condition I specified occurs, then my readied action is triggered. Say the enemy spellcaster begins to cast a spell (at inititive count 7), first I get to cast Resistance on myself, then the enemy spellcasters casts his spell. Also, my initiative is changed to 7 for the remainder of the encounter (so I will continue to act just before the enemy spellcaster). - If the condition I specified during my turn doesn't occur, then I just miss out. My readied action doesn't trigger. My initiative remains the same. Summary: In the case of Resistance it is probably better for you if you just cast it on your turn, and don't try to do it ahead of time.
