Chain Missile [Archive] - Wizards Community

01-09-08, 12:08 AM Quick question. How does chain missile in the spell compendium work with a warmage's warmage edge ability? Would just one missile get the edge (as it gives in the example of the edge) and pass it on to whoever that missile chains to or would the edge only affect the one missile hitting the target?

01-09-08, 12:35 AM Everything hit takes whatever damage it normally takes from the spell...and then you add on the warmage edge. So if you hit the "center" creature for 35 damage, and ten creatures around it for 3 damage each, you'd deal a total of 35 + Edge to the "center" creature and 3 + Edge to the other ten.

This sort of thing is implied by rulings on Fell Drain and so forth; they function once per target affected.

01-09-08, 08:17 AM according to chain missile spell you only fire 1 missile which divide after each hits. So i would way the ability should work. I don't know the ability of the warmage but seems as i saw what you wrote, it seems to be a Area of effect damage when target get hit. Chain missile is like chain lightning each chain are still the same lightning but split, so all effect affecting it is still there. My friend in my game is going for a Force Weaver Prestige class he is planning to take that spell but your ability seems nice if it's what i think. In which book the Warmage is ? so i can look into it, maybe he will like this ability.

Edit: Go with what seems reasonable; that part of Warmage Edge is written poorly enough that you could go either way.
