Am I missing something, or are the secondary targets of a Chained Greater Dispel subject to the same effects as the primary targets?

Greater Dispel neither does damage nor affords a saving throw, so it would seem that RAW the secondary effects are just as powerful as the primary one.

You are correct.

Note, you must use the Targetted version, but hey, that's the one you most likely wanted to use anyway.

Also note, you can do the same with a regular Dispell Magic, not just a greater.

Chaind Dispell Magic is cool.

I have heard of a chain dispel in PHB2 or something.
How does it stack up with a chained greater dispelling?:)

Much like Chain Missile and Chain Lightning do. The more targets, the more secondary blasts you get (since each counts as the primary target AND shoots out secondary blasts at all the others).

Um, I don't think that's right. None of those spells work with the chain metamagic.

Chain Spell only works on single target spells. Chain Dispel is a simple multi-target spell, while the other two have primary plus secondary targets.

To respond to runestar's question, Chain Dispel is 8th compared to Chain Greater Dispel's 9th. Greater Dispel also gets a slightly wider area while Chain Dispel gets a higher max caster level.

I thought Chain Spell gave a +3 bonus, and Greater Dispel was a 5th level spell? (thus making Chained Greater Dispel an 8th level spell)

Greater dispel is a 6th lv spell.
Thus a chained greater dispel fills a 9th lv slot, and effectively subjects all your designated targets to a targetted dispel. Very nice to use against a fully buffed party if you do not endorse disjunction in your game...

Plus if you have any remaining targets after you get everyone you can target their magic items (which tend to have lower caster levels).

Yes, and I don't endorse Disjunction. This ought to make the final combat a bit more tense... :D

You can also use a chained dispel magic or greater dispel magic to target a bunch of specific spells. This is a good way to get around spell turning and maybe a ring of counterspells.
