For example, can a rogue 5/chameleon 3, mimicking a wizard, take as the chameleon 2nd level feat scribe scroll? Could he then create scrolls as a 6th level wizard, using the usual item creation rules? Could he take a metamagic feat as if he were a wizard? EDIT: To be more precise, I am referring to the 'aptitude focus' ability rather than the 'mimic class feature' ability. The wording is: "You gain the ability to prepare and cast arcane spells, which may be chosen from the spell list of any arcane spellcasting class. You prepare and cast these spells just as a wizard does, including the use of a spellbook. . .Your caster level is equal to twice your class level." |

More specifically, most of the stuff mimiced by the Chameleon PrC cannot be used as prerequisites--the exception is the floating feat. That said, it is perfectly possible to qualify for an ability by some other means and then apply it to chameleon class features. You could, for instance, take a level of sorcerer and the Practiced Spellcaster feat, which would qualify you for Craft Wondrous Item. After taking THAT feat (probably through the Chameleon floating feat)...you could use your Chameleon casting to make magic items. |
