Can a chameleon using his aptitude focus cast arcane or divine spells that he doesnt have a corresponding high ability score for? For instance with a Wisdom of 12 can he cast 3 or 4th level spells? I would think so and its somewhat supported by the fact that the sample characters dont have high enough Intelligence scores to cast 2nd level spells yet they have them in their spellbook. |

It doesnt come right out and say you need a high enough ability score, but it does say you "prepare and cast spells just like a wizard/cleric." As such, I would take that to mean if you dont have a high enough stat, you cant cast the spell. |
| cere09-15-05, 11:05 PM | Thats what I originally thought, but then if you look at the stats for the second sample character he has an intelligence of 10 and yet has 2nd level arcane spells. Also in the combat section it talks about casting spells while wearing armor is a bonus. Does that mean that Chameleons dont suffer spell failure due to armor? |

So a smart Chameleon who wants to cast 2nd lvl wizard spells would make sure his Int is at least 12 by putting his ability boost there if it is currently lower than 12. As to wether they suffer ASF , i think , since it says "casts spells just like a wizard/cleric", they suffer ASF for arcane spells but not divine ones. |
