I've heard rumors that changes were made to some of the spells reprinted in the Spell Compendium. Since I don't have it and one of my players wants to use it, I would appreciate help with the following questions.....

Were any changes made to spells contained in the PHB 3.5 ?

Were any changes made to spells contained in the complete books?

None of the spells in the PHB were reprinted in the SC. As such, no changes were made to them.

I don't have the Complete books to compare, but I think the availability of a bunch of spells changed atleast. The only spell changes immediately taht comes to mind:

- Spikes' critical modifier thingie doesn't stack ith other critical modifier thingies anymore.

- Forestfold only does +10 bonus to Hide and Move Silently, and is now Druid 3, Ranger 3.

- I think Orb of Force has a lower damage cap now, with 10d6 max.

- Some spell names got changed. Those are summarized in the front.

No clue on what else got changed from the Complete books. Others can probably help you there.

Stuff.

clerics now get the benefits of the old "protection from spells" spell. I forget what it is called, but they now benefit from a similiar spell that gives them +6 to all saves witha duration of 24 hours. Also, protection from energy's duration was changed to 24 hours i believe...maybe not, but alot of durations, etc...WERE changed, you just need to line it up with the new name...
