OK guys, I've been looking through the PHB and such when I'm bored, and I've found a few things that I might change, but thought I'd bring them to you all first.

How much change of balance would there be if I changed the casting time of Minor/Major Creation and Fabricate to 1 standard action? They're decently high-level spells, and I can see them being quite useful in combat scenarios (which is the only time when casting time matters).

Am I not seeing something that'd be unbalancing about making these spells more useful?

Well, the best reasons I can think of for not allowing Fabricate to be used as a Standard Action are along the lines of: "You know that castle over there? I want the foundation to become a lot of stone marbles in 3 seconds now... You know that breastplate you're wearing? I want that to actually be a bear trap now...

And with the Creation spells, with all the screwy things you might do with it, I don't think it would be wise to make a combat grind to a halt while people try to figure out the mass of a giant wooden pyramid, or just how tall you could actually make a ladder.

So, mostly because those would be difficult to adjudicate in a combat situation, the casting times are prohibitively long.
