| sollmn03-28-06, 09:51 AM | I post this fix to changing shape for my own purposes only. I invite comment, but mostly it is posted for later reference. My goal was to fix some of the major abuses and imbalances, while still keeping most of the feel of classic fantasy alive, and trying to leave most changing shape monsters alone. Note that all these changes are done before Wizard's "official" fix. I ignore their "fix" completely, for a host of reasons. Wildshape Change duration to 10 minutes per class-level. This makes being a particular creature a problem solving and fighting ability, and not something a druid can simply maintain all day. Enhanced Wildshape This spell is elliminated. Master of Many Forms This prestige class is elliminated. A new prestige class, with more druidic wildshaping will be coming shortly. Alter Self Remove from the 4th paragraph, 2nd sentance, "natural armor bonus". Alter Self does not effect your natural armor bonus. Polymorph: Change Level to "Sor/Wiz 5" Change Range to "Personal" Change Target to "You" Change the last sentance of the 1st paragraph to the following: Although your form changes, your type and subtype remain the same, although for the duration of the spell, you gain the shapechanger subtype. Change maximum Hit-Die to "15, or 15 challenge rating, whichever is lower." Add the following sentance to paragraph 3: "The caster's hit-points do not change when cating this spell, although they still gain all other benefits of the spell." Polymorph Other new spell Level: Sorc/Wiz 7 Range: Touch Target: creature touched Saving Throw: Will Negates This spell works just like Polymorph, except as noted above. In addition, the maximum hit-dice or challenge rating of the new form is increased to 20. Note that willing targets may willingly fail their save. Shapechange Change Duration to "1 minute per level" Change maximum Hit-Die to "25, or 25 challenge rating, whichever is lower." Alternate Form and Change Shape Use the old 3.5 way, before the official "fix". Note that the above change to Polymorph effects Alternate Form and Change Shape, specifically the creature with the ability does not have a change in hit-points from an increased or decreased constitution score. Lycanthrope Challenge Rating: +1 more to orriginal. Add to Alternate Form ability: A lycanthrope's increased constitution effects all of its hit-dice and is effective in any of its forms, increasing its constitution based skill checks, fortidude saves, hit-points, and all other constitution based effects. |

| bave03-28-06, 05:07 PM | First off, its eliminate. Second.. nevermind. I will second if it works for your group fine, but otherwise it strikes me as a horrible overreaction. The most recent changes to the wildshape/poly are more than enough. More accurately I should ask, why do you think the new changes are not enough? |
| sollmn03-28-06, 06:28 PM | I think the new changes are too much. The new changes ruin most all of the various monsters with Alternate Form and Change Shape. This focuses just on the actual problems that exist with the spells, rather than change everything else. And by problems, you know what I mean. Thanks for the spelling correction! :) |
